Description |
Family history of Rodrigues family written on piece of paper. Date unknown. "Francis & Adele Rodrigues family history - they came to America in 1892 from Luxemburg, Belgium with two small children and the promise of having land available for them to farm. They lived for a few years around Somerset, WI and moved to Minnesota at the turn of the century. They lived on a farm near Withrow (I remember it had lots of rocks!) until the early 1920s when they came to live in their home along the railroad tracks and Hwy 61 next to what is now 140th street. Grandpa's old garage - chicken coop is still on the site - still being used by a _ __ ___. The house was demolished in the early 1940s. Grandma lived there only a year after Grandpa died in 1938. House was along Hwy 61 just south of St. John;s Church. Uncle Herbert Rodrigues owned and operated the Hugo telephone exchange for many years until the old crank telephone was replaced something in the 1950s." |
